I started training with Six Factors Fitness after watching my dad transform into a mountain of muscle and a dynamo of energy and stamina.

My goals were to be stronger, which running was not helping me to be since I was always suffering with injuries.

I am now experiencing a strength I didn’t know I was capable of. Commuting by bike is easier, sleep comes quicker, and I am challenged by the weekly work-out.

Marc Noel keeps me coming back for my weekly workout. He records my progress, knows when to encourage me to go farther, and takes the time to point me in the right direction. He goes out of his way to keep his clients healthy and strong. (And it takes an inspired individual to coax a laugh out of me after the leg press!)

I’ve known Marc for a number of years now, and I can say he is one of the kindest, most generous people you will ever meet.

He is truly a “Mad Scientist” with his original Nautilus equipment. I can guarantee that you will not find retrofitted equipment or reformulated equipment like it anywhere else on this planet — and that is your gain, because you have to know that you are working out on equipment that is technically perfect for performing SuperSlow movement on.

If you doubt this just try working out on any other equipment you might find in Victoria, and you will then truly feel the enormous difference.

Since May 2003, I’ve taken a once-a-week trip of 12 hours back and forth from Burnaby just to experience the “proper 20 minute” workout that I can only get at Six Factors Fitness.

I was introduced to Six Factors Fitness through my father and sister. They had both been enjoying the health-inducing effects of Super Slow for some time before I worked up the courage to actually try it myself, which was September 2001.

Over the past year I have thoroughly enjoyed my new “ripped” physique, all the while hating and dreading my weekly 20 minute workout—kidding of course.

Marc makes me feel safe and welcome. I can’t see myself pumping iron at any other facility because Marc’s humour and tireless work ethic are such and integral part of my training. The result of my year of duty with Marc has been a lean, mean new physique.

The first thing you should realize about doing SuperSlow is that you are entering a new dimension of fitness involvement.

You will undoubtedly find yourself discussing the method at parties and other social events, often miming the exercises in an excited manner, your voice escalating, perhaps, to shout out joyously, “…and then, when the burning sensation reached my thighs, the whole machine started rattling worse than a jalopy on a sketchy Peruvian back road!”

Smiling confusedly, baffled partygoers and casual acquaintances generally ask, “Are you talking about that workout thing you do?”

Best to promptly accept that SuperSlow will become a major force both in your life and in the life of anyone who knows you intimately: as once a week on The Workout Day, you decline with an appropriate mix of regret and pride, “sorry, darling, I can’t (insert activity here) … I destroyed myself at my workout today.”

An offshoot to these tendencies is the fact that Marc Noël will be a major part of your life. This is a man who, after cloyingly telling you “I think you’ve got another rep in you” just as you have convinced yourself that you’re about to leave this cruel world for good, will then show up at your door at 9 a.m. with a DVD he thinks you might enjoy. I suppose it’s integral to the success of the gruelling SuperSlow method that its trainers be among the kindest, gentlest and most considerate of beings. Still, Marc is exceptionally all of those things.

In these ways, a community, new friends, infinite instant bonding possibilities, SuperSlow has brought me so much more than simply a visible pair of triceps.

Having worked out in regular gyms, which I found to be a waste of time, a few years ago I put together a home gym, and was working out in it 3 or 4 times a week, 1 ½ to 2 hours each session. Yet I was not making much progress. I happened to find Marc’s facility through the Internet, and I realized very quickly that there is no substitute for working with him at Six Factors Fitness.

Why? The safety of his workouts, and the excellent results you can achieve in the minimum time.

Regarding safety: I often suffered painful injuries from workouts — I was just lucky none were serious. Strength training injuries are very common — although medical authorities now attest (see for example, the Mayo Clinic web site) that strength training is a necessity for fitness, they warn about its dangers. It is tremendously reassuring to be doing high intensity strength training under the personal direction of a master trainer, whose methods rule out explosive movements or hazardous exertions, and whose attention is exclusively on me throughout.

As for time investment, for me it is only one session a week for about half an hour, but I continue to get results that I could not get when working 3 – 4 sessions, 5 – 8 hours per week.

Here is a concrete illustration of results. After I had worked out with Marc for about 8 months. I slipped on a stairway in my home, falling head first toward the concrete basement floor. In those few seconds during the fall, I thought about how many bones I was likely to break when I hit the concrete; how I was going to get back upstairs to call someone for help; how long this was going to put me out of commission; and how painful the impact was going to be. But before my face could hit the cement, I was able to break the fall easily with my hands and forearms. I could not believe that I got not even a bruise. I had never thought of strength training as a protection against injury until that experience.

I have now been a client for two years. I regard Six Factors workouts as my best investment in personal health.

There are only two or three other such facilities in Canada. We are very lucky to have the opportunity for these workouts here in Victoria. Thank you Marc!

I first heard about Six Factors Fitness through my fiancée. I was skeptical.

But when I finally watched her work-out, I was convinced I wanted to try. I’ve always been athletic but when I started Bike Trials I realized I needed more strength. I’m also a lean guy, it had been impossible for me to exceed 150 pounds.

Before SuperSlow, I could only handle an hour or two of Bike Trials before crawling home absolutely exhausted. Now, one year later, I weigh 165 pounds and can ride for 5-6 hours with ease. My physique has filled out nicely and my coordination skills and balance have increased ten-fold.

Marc’s friendly encouragement and commitment to his profession have given me the strength I needed.

Thank you Marc, you’ve changed my life.
